Benchmark

  • In 1773, three McAfee Brothers named James, George and Robert left Virginia westward to explore the uncharted territory that would later become known as Kentucky. Traveling by canoe at first, the McAfee Company eventually followed a native trail overland that led to the great buffalo crossing, where the brothers surveyed the land now home to the world’s most award-winning distillery – Buffalo Trace Distillery. The surveyor marks left behind are known as benchmarks and this bourbon whiskey honors the pioneering spirits of these early American explorers.

    TASTING NOTES:

A nose of toasted oak and baking spice leads to a complex palate with notes of caramel and citrus undertones.

Baker’s

  • No two barrels of Baker’s are the same. Each is as unique as the man the bourbon is named for. Each barrel sits in its own unique place throughout our rickhouses, patiently aging for a minimum of seven years to extract the notes of vanilla trapped within the charred oak.

And with Baker’s there’s no batching or mixing. Each bottle is filled from one singular barrel. Which means inside each bottle is a big, bold bourbon, full of tiny subtle details that change barrel to barrel.

  • NOSE:

    Fruit, vanilla and caramel.

Booker’s

  • Booker’s® Bourbon is a rare barrel-strength bourbon, bottled uncut and unfiltered*. But you obviously know a good bit about bourbon, because you don’t end up here by mistake. We don’t advertise. We don’t do social media. We just do bourbon.

We focus on the sweet spot. The center of the rackhouse where the temperature and humidity stars align to create the deepest and most intense flavors. Once it’s aged to perfection, which always varies, the liquid is bottled uncut and unfiltered*. We don’t add, we don’t water down, and we don’t apologize for it. For some people, it may be too much. But for true bourbon fans, it’s probably the best ever.

Blanton’s Single Barrel

  • In the winter of 1881, Albert Bacon Blanton was born into one of the first families of bourbon history. At the age of sixteen, he started work in the Distillery as an office boy and fast became a leading pioneer in the development of bourbon. From the time he was made company president in 1921 until his retirement in 1952, his Distillery expanded from 44 to 144 buildings to become the largest Distillery of its day. During that period Colonel Blanton created his very special and limited supply of bourbon - his private reserve - handpicked and stored in what now is known as the famous Warehouse H. Although Colonel Blanton died in the spring of 1959, his legacy lives. Introduced in 1984, Blanton’s namesake bourbon was the first ever Single Barrel Bourbon sold commercially. The Single Barrel Bourbon is the first of its kind.

Elijah Craig

  • Reverend Elijah Craig was a Baptist preacher, an educator, and an entrepreneur who built the first paper and wool mills in Georgetown, Kentucky. But for all his industries, it was his gift as a distiller and an innovator that brought him his greatest acclaim.

While we draw inspiration from parts of Elijah Craig’s story as a distiller, a critical component of this history are the enslaved people who made major contributions to Bourbon. Elijah Craig was an enslaver, relying upon enslaved people to run his distilling and broader business operations. Uncovering the identities and roles of these laborers, how they contributed to the birth of the Bourbon industry and the legacy their families left is a critical mission of our brand today. Elijah Craig is actively engaged in academic research with the University of Kentucky's Commonwealth Institute for Black Studies and Central Kentucky Slavery Initiative, as well as other initiatives, to not only share a more transparent and inclusive account of our past, but to also make America today a more just and equitable country.

High and Wicked

  • High n’ Wicked was launched to present very fine whiskeys to the American market. Our core expressions are Kentucky Straight Bourbon and Kentucky Straight Rye. Both are exceptional. Gifted people are involved. We do not rush them to market. Our youngest whiskey is five years old. Our oldest is twenty. We honor the time it takes. Occasionally, we find treasures out there. When we do, we bottle them as Singular Limited Releases. I think of these as angels burnishing the High n’ Wicked halo. We have released some special Irish whiskeys and some unique Tennessee bourbons in double wood finishes. Single Malt Scotch will join our family soon. There is a lot of energy here, emblematic of the bucking horse from which we draw our name.

Hudson Baby Bourbon

  • Like many New York stories, ours started with a bold proposition: make whiskey in New York for the first time since prohibition. In 2003, Ralph Erenzo had a wild idea to move upstate and start a distillery, way back before there was a craft distiller in every neighborhood across the US. Ralph didn’t play by the rules. He fought for his whiskey, and challenged the government to change the laws for craft distillers everywhere. Now craft distilling is everywhere — with over 1,800 distilleries in the US, and over 180 in New York alone.

  • NOSE:

Starts strong with rich vanilla and oak

Lightening notes of stone fruit, corn bread, caramel, and cashew

    45.4% ABV- 90.8 Proof

    NOSE:

The first thing you discover is a sweet caramel aroma, followed by a warming allspice lift, a sprinkling of citrus and a hint of oak.

    PALATE:

It offers caramel and allspice which together present an excellent flavor as the mildly silky liquid crosses the tongue.

    FINISH:

The allspice remains for a longer caramel finish.

Knob Creek

  • There’s no faking full bourbon flavor. It has to be earned. So that’s what we do in Clermont: we earn it. We start by selecting the finest grains. And we finish by meticulously aging our whiskey in white oak barrels with maximum char, for an unmistakable richness and signature sweetness. It’s the natural way. And there’s just no cheating nature.

  • NOSE:

Thick caramel, oak, lightly toasted marshmallows, and a hint of vanilla greet you. Knob Creek Small Batch manages to hide its proof well as very little ethanol is present. The classic scents are bold and rich, presenting a great way to start the sip

    PALATE:

Compared to the nose, the palate’s flavors aren’t as rich, and come across lighter. Those flavors that are present come across as sweeter overall. Sweet vanilla leads the way, followed by light oak, green peppercorns, a hint of caramel, and creme brulee. It's a nice combination, but leaves you wishing that it was just a tad bolder.

    FINISH:

The finish is more one dimensional compared to the nose and palate. Aged oak and rye spice mingle with a touch of leather. While it may be one dimensional, it makes up for it in its length. These flavors stay for a while and ultimately leave you with a long lasting oaky spice that is a great way to end the sip

Legent

  • Legent® is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey partially finished in wine and sherry casks. But it's more than that. It pushes the boundaries for how bourbons can be created while remaining true to the core of bourbon's principles. It's a collaboration between two whiskey legends – Fred Noe & Shinji Fukuyo – and two unique styles of whiskey making.

  • NOSE:

Well-rounded wine scents create a smooth and fruity character that is revealed with each sniff

    TASTE:

Flavors of young bourbon and nicely oaked wine merge together. The young bourbon notes come off as barrel char and semi-burnt caramelized sugar. The wine notes lean more towards berry compote, lemon meringue and sweet citrus peel. There is also a level of peppery spice that gives each sip a bit of a “pop” as you drink. Overall, the wine casks smooth out the youthful bourbon notes leaving behind an easy-going sipping experience.

    FINISH:

The finish lasts moderately long and is much more tannic overall than I expected. Leather and oak can be found long after the sip is complete. Wine and berry notes continue fruity sweetness that I got used to on the nose and palate. The sweetness that comes from caramel and nougat are pleasant and are probably from the bourbon itself.

Makers Mark

  • Maker's Mark® has been crafted the same way for three generations. We've spent decades taking our time making whisky and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Maker's Mark® began with one family's quest to create a bourbon they enjoyed drinking and sharing with friends. As the world's first premium bourbon, it changed the industry in 1953.

Bill Samuels Sr., the engineer turned craftsman who elevated bourbon with his flavor vision.

Margie Samuels created packaging that would honor her husband's handmade bourbon. The shape of the bottle, look of the label, signature red wax and even the Maker's Mark® name are all thanks to Margie. Margie is also credited for inventing bourbon tourism.

  • This one changed the way we think of bourbon, all because one man changed the way he thought about making it. Bill Samuels, Sr., simply wanted a whisky he would enjoy drinking. Never bitter or sharp, Maker's Mark® is made with soft red winter wheat, instead of the usual rye, for a one-of-a-kind, full-flavored bourbon. To ensure consistency, we rotate every barrel by hand and age our bourbon to taste, not time. Each and every bottle of Maker's® is still hand-dipped in our signature red wax at our distillery in Loretto, KY., just like Bill, Sr. would have wanted.

    TASTING NOTES

    NOST:

Sweet oak, vanilla, bright fruit and wheat prevail in the nose

An illustration symbol in red representing the Maker's Mark classic aroma

    PALATE:

Sweet with balance of oak, vanilla and fruity essences

An illustration symbol in red representing the Maker's Mark classic taste.

    FINISH:

Smooth and creamy with a pleasant soft spice and clean finish

  • Maker's Mark 46® is the recipe of Bill Samuels Jr., son of founders Bill and Margie, and the first new major expression since classic Maker’s® was released in 1958. Maker’s 46® is aged longer with special seared French oak staves. With subtly layered bourbon notes and balanced complexity.

    NOSE:

Hints of toasty French oak, caramel and baking spices

    PALATE:

Mildly sweet and uniquely layered with deep rich notes of vanilla and baking spice

    FINISH:

    Velvety subtle and pleasingly long.

  • It’s everything you love about Maker’s Mark® with a whole lot more to love. Our founder himself, Bill Samuels, Sr., was the first fan of this high proof bourbon. Bill liked to tuck a little 101 aside for friends and special occasions.

Michter’s

  • At Michter’s, as we pursue our goal of making the best American whiskey, we take costly extraordinary steps to ensure that our products are of the absolute highest quality

  • NOSE:

This bourbon presents a very straightforward, light, and pleasant nose. New oak, corn, grain, and raisins were all present, but very subtle.

    PALATE:

The palate can best be summed up as sweet with good mouthfeel. Sweet corn, honey, and vanilla are immediately noticeable when you take a sip. The palate comes off as that of a young whiskey that hasn’t spent a lot of time in the barrel.

    FINISH:

The finish is light and lingering. Notes of oak, white pepper, honey, peaches and raisins lingered for a while in my mouth with the predominant flavor being the white pepper that brings a subtle heat and spice to the finish.

  • NOSE:

Potent caramel, fresh cut apple, and a touch of nutmeg loom large. Bouts of vanilla and cinnamon sway in, further adding to the aroma’s pleasant impact. It’s a sweet collection of scents that are hard to find fault with as they veer heavily into classic “bourbon” aroma territory. The aroma isn’t without surprises, with hints of anise deep within. Lacking overt complexity, yet full of zest, it’s a comforting aroma layered with warmth.

    PALATE:

The sip is instantly likable thanks to a barrage of sweet flavors of butterscotch, vanilla, caramel, toffee, and coffee cake. It's all the more satisfying with the addition of a silky smooth consistency, which combined with its 86 proof, makes this quite an enjoyable sipper. With cherry, raspberry, and cinnamon bun on the backend, this whiskey tastes very “old fashioned” in nature. While it once again is light on flavor diversity, it offers the definition of palatable in return.

    FINISH:

A hit of rye spice, followed by a ramp up in heat provides quite the contrast to the sweet and smooth palate. A layer of dryness envelopes the entire finish, zapping the palate’s sweetness almost entirely. Simple in construction, it provides a strong distinction from the palate but offers little in return.

Old Forester

  • Our founder, George Garvin Brown, was born September 2, 1846 in Munfordville, KY. In 1863 he moved to Louisville to attend high school, and eventually became a pharmaceutical salesman. And it was that particular line of work that led him to create the First Bottled Bourbon™, Old Forester, in 1870.

  • Created in 1870, Old Forester is the only bourbon continuously distilled and marketed by the founding family before, during and after Prohibition. At 86 proof, Old Forester delivers a genuine bourbon experience, with rich, full flavor and a smooth character that is ideal for sipping neat, on the rocks, with a splash of water or in a classic cocktail.

    NOSE:

Sharp and sweet, with a strong floral character that swirls with hints of mint, rich tobacco leaf and vanilla.

    PALATE:

A touch of oak and pine provides a strong underpinning. Sharp at first, but softens quickly, with hints of oak, sweet corn and rye grain character. Spicy, with soft vanilla and light orange notes.

    FINISH:

Long, warm and slightly drying. Nice level of sweetness.

  • In 1870 George Garvin Brown created Old Forester on Louisville, KY’s, famous Whiskey Row. In honor of that milestone year in bourbon history, we have crafted a tribute – Old Forester 1870 Original Batch – the first expression in the Old Forester Whiskey Row series.

1870 Original Batch echoes George Garvin Brown’s original batching process. Back then, Brown batched barrels obtained from three distilleries to create a consistent flavor profile. To emulate that process today, we also select barrels from three warehouses, each barrel originating from a different day of production, with a different entry proof and a different age profile. The three expressions of Old Forester are then batched together and minimally filtered to craft Old Forester 1870 Original Batch.

    NOSE:

Clove notes spice up a medley of citrus fruits (orange, grapefruit, blood orange), all softened with a delicate, sweet, floral honeysuckle character.

    PALATE:

Baking spices (clove, cinnamon, nutmeg) flow into a citrus-fruit mix and shortbread sweetness.

    FINISH:

Soft, with lingering fruit and spice character.

  • Old Forester 1897 Bottled in Bond is crafted to honor a watershed moment in bourbon history – the U.S. Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. This expression follows the Bottled in Bond standards that whisky must be aged in a federally bonded warehouse for at least four years, the product of one distillation season, one distiller and from one distillery and bottled at 100 Proof. The concept behind these regulations – the idea of ‘sealed in quality’ – was something Old Forester introduced in 1870, as America’s First Bottled Bourbon.

    NOSE:

    Robust, intense caramel

    PALATE:

Rich vanilla with roasted coffee notes, spiced dark fruit and mature oak. Mouth-filling. Sweet and intense.

    FINISH:

Deep fruit, spice and oak notes layered over dark caramel and vanilla. Big and bold.

  • On October 22nd. 1910, a fire on the bottling line halted production of Old Forester. Mature whisky ready to be bottled, instead was stored in a secondary barrel. What emerged was a delightful whisky, remarkable enough to become an entirely new expressions – Old Fine Whisky.

Today mimicking this historic bottling, this unique expression of Old Forester has undergone a second barreling, granting it exceptional character, a smooth and sweet flavor and a clean, crisp finish. Entering the second barrel at a low 100 proof allows more of the sweet wood sugars to dissolve into the whiskey. 1910 Old Fine Whiskey is the fourth and final expression of the Whiskey Row Series, presented at 93 proof.

    NOSE:

Interlaced layers of buttercream, sticky toffee, cedar, and apricot.

    PALATE:

Smooth, well rounded mingling of sweet oatmeal raisin cookie and milk chocolate leading into caramel corn and evolving spice.

    FINISH:

Charred oak leads with a clean peripheral spice.

  • The Volstead Act of 1920 which initiated Prohibition in the USA granted permits to six distillers in Kentucky to continue to bottle bourbon for medicinal purposes. Through one of these permits, Old Forester continued to be produced as medicinal whiskey on Louisville’s famed Whiskey Row. It is the only bourbon continuously sold by the same company that has been available for sale before, during and after Prohibition.

During this time, all whiskies had to be bottled at 100 Proof. With a barrel entry proof of 100, the “angel’s share” would have created a 115 proof whiskey after maturation. To pay homage to this era, Old Forester presents 1920 Prohibition Style Bourbon at 115 proof to represent the rich flavor profile this bourbon had nearly 100 years ago.

    NOSE:

An intense medley of cherry preserves, drippy caramel, dark chocolate, thickened maple syrup and seasoned oak spiciness.

    PALATE:

Dark caramel coats layers of malt nuttiness and sweet graham cracker all warmed by green peppercorn and coriander spice brightened with a hint of cedar.

    FINISH:

Tart apple crispness gives way to a long smoky finish full of toasted marshmallow, chocolate and graham cracker sweetness.

Old Grand Dad

  • Basil Hayden Sr. - known as Old Grand-Dad to the generations that followed - made bourbon the way he wanted. He went against the traditional “grain” of the time and chose to distill his bourbon with a higher percentage of rye. This way of crafting bourbon was likely something he handed down to his son. And in turn, his grandson. That was Colonel R.B. Hayden who would justly name his bourbon after his Old Grand-Dad. The recipe today remains inspired by Basil’s original with complex flavors and an unmistakable spiciness. First bottled in 1882, very little has changed about it. And that’s the only way we’d have it.
